VISTA's "Start" button alone requires 45 staff to complete

I just returned from a career presentation by Microsoft UK. Not that I
want to work for Microsoft, but it still stirs the desire to know what
it's like to work in the company.

Guy Chessell, who once worked for Logica and Oracle, showed us some
pretty cool and new inventions of Microsoft. I'm not exactly sure if
they are made by Microsoft, but if he showed it to us, it probably is.
One of them involved a laptop computer which enables you to hold it on
your arm like a notepad, and allows you to scribble things onto the
computer with a special pen. He did it on his presentation, which is
projected on the screen.

Ryan Smith is the guy who first talked. I don't like him because he
was the one who delivered the bad news, i.e. Microsoft can't AFFORD to
sponsor graduates who requires a work permit. I intepret it as
Microsoft UK is bullshit, makes me feel more superior. Also, he
mentioned that Microsoft only recruit 27 graduates per year. Sweet.

One of the guys I talked to, is Mike Hill (t-mhill@microsoft.com). He
revealed some inside information about Microsoft's new and upcoming
operating system, i.e. VISTA. And according to him, the tiny little
"Start" button (the one you see on the bottom left corner of your
windows) required 45 dudes to make. Why? everyone wants to have a part
in it. ("Hey, I made the Start button") And, it just shows how
important this new version is going to be.

Other VISTA features includes: wonderful new 3D graphical interface,
more security and nothingelse. Well, I guess now Microsoft can compete
with Apple Mac for cooler interface. (and horrible CPU/Memory
management, because according to Mike, a regular computer will die if
it's not powerful enough to support the heavy loads.)

Anyway, here are some stuff that I would like to keep just for my own
reference just incase I lose the papers.

t-mhill@microsoft.com - University of Manchester - BSc Computer
